SLTOA Picnic
May 14th Update by Karl Schmitt
|
The Des Peres City Fathers have advised
certain concerned SLTOA members that the park has been ringed with sand
bags and the pavillion roof fixed. Thus access by Triumphs has been
assured and threatening or inclement weather is not a valid excuse to miss
the club picnic scheduled for this wednesday evening, May 15 at 6:00 p.m. Additionally Schnucks's butchers worked overtime this weekend to insure an adequate supply of bratts for the anticipated crowd. And considering the amount of food purchased by our "Kettelmaster" there is absolutely NO NEED for the good ladies of our club to bring a covered dish. However, should they persist in this endeavor, a bit of dessert that could be shared with a few others would be appreciated. Additionally, the gentlemen attending should recall that the old rule, BYOB, applies. On the bright side of things, Bonnie has informed this scribe that she has had to restrict the entry of certain pretty young nurses into Jack's room, as they have been affecting his temporary pacemaker. She further noted that the need for a permanent device and its brand of manufacture, of which Lucas is a consideration, will be made this evening. However, sad to say, Bonnie and Jack will not be able to join fellow members at the picnic, but will be with us in spirit as Jack continues his excellent recovery to date. |
The
annual S.L.T.O.A. family picnic is scheduled for the evening of May 15th,
(wrong
date on web site recently corrected)
beginning about 5:30pm. Members and
their immediate family are invited. It
would be help full to have some idea as to how many “folks” are coming.
So if you can find the time, give me a quick call @ 636-797-4203, and
leave a brief message after my
recording.
The
club will provide “brats & dogs” along with chips, salads and soda.
For the traditionalist, there might even be a bit of “kraut” to go
along with the “dogs”.
Ladies
so inclined might want to bring a “wee bit of desert” to share with others.
As to “special beverages” please feel free to bring your own.
Most
of the members will probably arrive around 6:00pm, at which time the food will
be available. Our President,
Richard Etz would then like to open the regular meeting at about 7:00pm
The location for the picnic this year will be at the Des Peres Park Pavilion which Joe Mueller has reserved for that evening. It is a pretty little park with lots of space for the children to romp around in. Also there is a lake and a trail for those who like to walk. The park is located just north of Manchester Road, on N. Ballas Road, which is just east of I-270. As there is a lot of construction going on in the area, along with new roads, please be careful with your L.B.C.
A
map is attached, but I am not to sure as to its accuracy as they have changed
the roads in the area.
Thanks,
Karl & Barbara Schmitt
