March 2000

March Meeting

The December meeting will be Tuesday evening at 7:00, March 21st, 2000 at McNulty’s at WestPort Plaza.

Newsletter Editor

We still need a newsletter editor. Since Robin quit we have had no volunteers. If we don’t find someone who has the time to do it, SLTOA may end up without a newsletter.

Season Party and Polar Bear Run

The Holiday party in February at Bevo Mill was enjoyed by many. As was expected, the Rambler Shocks showed up again. In fact, I think some more non-Triumph shocks showed up!

Our Polar Bear Run turned out to be a Spring-Fling this year. About 15 to 20 cars showed up. The weather was so warm that everyone opened up his or her car and enjoyed the sunshine. Dave Massey, the Electrical Engineer, always likes to retrofit Triumphs with electric fuel pumps. So half way through the drive he decided he would do the same to Linda's TR3. Actually the fuel line clogged so Dave got a pump some hose and wire and did a road side retrofit. The hose went down through the filler tube into the fuel, and ran across the cockpit and up to the carburetors. Whatever works! It did get them home! At the end of the tour we all enjoyed the hospitality of the Hubers. Thanks Don and Suzanne, we all enjoyed it very much!

Technical Session

We are planning a Brake rebuild session at Carriage Muffler in April. Watch for more details in next month's newsletter.

Fifth Annual Missouri Endurance Rally 24 Hour Challenge March 18-19, 2000

By the time this newsletter is received the registration deadline of March 10 will be past, but nothing says we can't cheer on the MG Club and the MG owners who have cars good enough to complete about 1000 in just one day. The event will start at 7:00 AM in the West Port Plaza area on the 18th and finish by 8:00 AM on the 19th. If you want to learn more call the MG Club of St. Louis Hot Line 314-995-TOMG

Easter Car Show, April 23, 2000

A registration form for the Easter car show at Forest Park is included. The club could get a discount by going in as a group. If someone wants to organize this, go for it!

The St. Louis Rally Club has invited SLTOA to join them in their many rallys that they organize through out the year. If there is someone who would like to be the focal point for communications between them and us, please contact me, Creig Houghtaling, and I will provide you the information.
