Web Site of the
Month: Tools Explained - http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/1080/tools.html
Presidential Babelogue
In looking back at the last few months I’ve been impressed at the British Car Events that have occurred in our area and our club’s involvement in them.
We thawed things out on our Polar Bear Run February 4th with gracious hosting by the Houghtalings. Creig H. was also the lone stalwart representing the SLTOA at the Missouri Endurance Rallye on March 24th and 25th. . . he did well to finish without an impromptu Amelia Earhart impersonation. In April we continued enjoying our toys during the inaugural April Fools’ Run and Stress Reduction Clinic with over sixty people and twenty five LBCs in attendance. A number of our club members enjoyed the Tune Up at Bester’s on April 14th and the Easter Car Show at the Muny.
The fact that a record of almost all of these events and our club’s involvement in them can be seen on our website is a very good thing. When fellow Triumph owners see that
we actually participate in / sponsor events it may prompt them to go a step further towards joining. We had three people want to join up at the April 1st event and others expressed interest in joining at the Easter Show.
On the frontier for the summer are many British Car events, some local, some not so:
The Mid-Missouri Car Show is coming up the weekend of May 19th-20th. Creig H. met some of the folks from the sponsoring club on the endurance rallye and it seems as though it would be an excellent show which is not necessarily a week’s drive away (only about two hours). We have been invited to join the St. Louis MG Club on their drive to Hot Springs for the show there on the first weekend of May.
The Champaign British Car Festival is May 25th-27th also.
Lots of fun things to do and attend!
On the local front, Arlie King has graciously offered to
organize a winery drive later in June.
Dave Massey is heading up the organization of a local show in
conjunction with The St. Louis Scottish Games. And don’t forget our Annual Picnic on June 19th!!
All of these local events would be an excellent opportunity for some of our members we
don’t see much to come out and enjoy the hobby. Details are discussed at our monthly
meetings which are listed in both Exhaust Notes and on the website, www.SLTOA.org.
We would love to see everyone come out to the Picnic on June
19th. . . come on, you can bring the kids, and it’s FREE FOOD!!
All these events work better the more people are involved.
I’m sure the folks organizing things would love your help.
The year thus far has been a great success and the horizon is bright!!
