Driving Directions:

Hwy 270 north to 370, west to Elm/New Town exit. Left under hwy & stay on Elm to Marie Dr. – left go approximately 1 ½ blocks (street numbers make no sense).

Hwy 70 west to First Capitol, right to Kingshighway (past Lindenwood College) to Elm – several miles to Marie Dr – turn right. (See previous.)

Page Extension west to St Charles/Hwy 94/First Capitol exit – stay on first capitol/94 till you cross over Hwy 70 (See previous.)

Out-of-Towners Rejoice! We have firmed up our June picnic date and voted to move the picnic to a Sunday so we can include the folks we rarely get to see from out of town. While Matt Gossett was calling people to attend the Easter Car Show, he mentioned to me that somebody asked him why we never had any meetings in Illinois? I'm sure there's no other reason other than no one has suggested a place, or volunteered to host one there. So in the spirit of inclusiveness (is that a word?) members voted that the June Picnic/ meeting, will be held in Columbia Illinois on Sunday June 22. The event will be held at the home of Ron Spiegelman. Grillemeister Karl Schmitt will be on duty as in previous years at the helm providing the Brats, soda, ice - etc. You may bring desert to share if desired and drinks other than soda. Also, bring lawn chairs so you'll be guaranteed a place to plop! Ron is going to set up a short drive in the local area on some fun roads he knows prior to eating. So arrive early, take a short jaunt, eat, we'll have a meeting and enjoy each others company. Actual directions & time to be announced later (this is in June remember) we have May to get through first! I just wanted to make everyone aware so they can mark their calendar!

As long as we're moving meeting dates around -( I'm not fond of doing this because everyone has the 3rd Tuesday of the month in their head)- The month of July brings us a challenge. The MG Conversion Group is hosting their 2008 British Meet National Convention July 13 -16 in Port Washington Wisconsin. I'll be attending, which is not a problem as Vice President John Lamberg is quite capable but he's also expressed interest in attending as well as others in our group. We'll know more as we get closer to that date. There's a possibility me might move that meeting to the week following. This show is mostly about V8 conversions in general on all models of British cars. Not a competition, but more of an information sharing/get together have fun kind of deal. I believe there is a display, but I don't think awards are given. One event is a tour of Elkhardt Lake Race Track. I believe you can view this from the driver’s seat of your car which is good because it's a hellish long walk! This is truly a beautiful race track rich with history. Things are always in the state of flux it seems- the time line for completion of my patio project keeps getting moved back because of the rain. It looks as though it won't be done in time for the May meeting as I had hoped. Bonnie & Jack David have volunteered to bail me out & host the May meeting. Tuesday, May 20 (Thankyou!) I'll volunteer to host the August meeting which looks to be a bit more realistic. I'm sure Creig has directions on the cover. Bring lawn chairs if you have them to be sure of a comfortable spot. Also bring a side dish of your choice, I'm uncertain of the main course as I've just now talked to Bonnie & she was on her way out the door!

I've received my first newsletter from the Triumph Wedge Owners Association (formerly known as Prince, er- TR8CCA) A worthwhile investment in my opinion, a nice article on clock repair for wedge owners - step by step. I take encouragement & inspiration where ever I can get it lately, I'll bring it to the meeting to share with you. I also have a handful of membership registrations as does Dave Massey. Dave is the Southern Regional Director for this group.

This just in - somewhere elsewhere on the pages of this fine publication is information Creig Houghtaling has just e-mailed me concerning what looks to be a worthwhile event in Blytheville Arkansas on June 7th. I'm not sure if it's an exclusive all British event or not, but there seems to be a fair amount of our British brethren attending - check it out!
