HOW TO SPEND OUR FUNDS – Dave Massey brought up the fact that we are a Not for Profit organization and as such we need to keep a low account balance or face the IRS! Here are some suggestions raised at the meeting: Tools for club use, shirts or jackets for club members. What are your ideas?? Arlie tabled the topic until the March meeting so please come to the meeting and share your thoughts.
WEBSITE – any ideas of things people would like to see on our website? A suggestion was offered that more resources on the resource page would be appreciated. What are your thoughts?
Creig is willing to enter data if someone is unable to enter it (lack of computer access). Here are some other suggestions: create a way to search for names in the phone list (a fast way), part swapping on line.

Where We will meet at the Firstar Bank in Alton, Illinois at 10:30 a.m. (4:30 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time, London) Tour departs at 10:30 a.m. or so . . . Leave St. Louis in a Northeastern Direction to cross the Clark Bridge. After crossing the bridge into Alton, Illinois, turn left at the light. You will see the Firstar Bank on your right. Additional Hint: Look for Little British Cars.
The Event Itself I realize it is a bit of a trip for a lot of people just to get to Alton, so the tour itself will not be that extensive and will focus on relaxation. We will drive North along the Mississippi River bluffs (excellent road) approximately 22 miles (˝ hour) to Pere Marquette Lodge. We will probably have the opportunity to park near the water so that our cars will not be exposed to the parking lot at the lodge. We have our own banquet room reserved for us and our guests. We will be able to enjoy the Sunday Brunch Buffet at The Lodge. Cost for the brunch is $12.45 per person. After a relaxing brunch we will drive back down the river road five miles to Grafton and stop at the Piasa Winery for further relaxation. The winery is a single building with parking off the street. You can purchase wine by the bottle and enjoy it on the premises. The winery has a deck overlooking the river and a "downstairs" room with a fireplace and big comfy sofas. Definite stress reduction . . .
At our last meeting the club decided to enter the Horseless Carriage Club of Missouri’s Concours d’Elegance 2001 as a club. If we do this, we can show as a group and get a discount rate for entering. The price will be $10 per car. Jack Fansher has volunteered to handle our group registration. If you would like to show your car please contact Jack Fansher at 314-275-2563. Jack will tell you exactly how much you will need to pay to enter. He suggested that perhaps SLTOA could pay part. We’ll have to discuss that at the Tuesday meeting. Jack also suggested that we could have some kind of display promoting SLTOA. These kind of shows always garners a new member or two. Please bring your ideas to the meeting or call Jack Fansher.
The rally will be March 24th and 25th. I have registered and plan to drive my TR6. So far, Charlie Key and I are the only Triumph club members that I know of planning to compete. If there is anyone out there who would like to drive but still has not registered, Robert Rushing (rally director) has informed me that last minute registration will be accepted. For more information, see: http://www.stlouismgclub.com/mer.html or ring me at 636-305-1143.
If you did not attend our last meeting you missed the Tech Session by Charlie Keys. Charlie reviewed all the subtle
points of bleeding your clutch. Along with the discussion, DOT fluids and electronic ignitions were mentioned for the members. It was a fine presentation and we all enjoyed it Charlie.
On another note please be prepared to vote for a new President/Vice President for the coming two years. I'm sure someone else would like the opportunity to work with the Triumph club. I am starting to go out of town more and it is difficult to keep up. Please think about it and bring your proposal in to the next meeting. Regards Arlie King
